Towards an integrated concept for sustainable use of migratory waterbirds
Jesper Madsen is professor, D.Sc. and head of the Centre for Adaptive Nature Management at the Department of Ecoscience, Aarhus University, Denmark. His research focusses on migratory waterfowl, their ecology and management, including sustainability of hunting (effects of hunting on populations, including crippling caused by shotgun shooting, effective goose hunting, disturbance and design of disturbance-free reserves for waterbirds, and adaptive harvest management at flyway level) as well as management of problematic species (agricultural conflicts, risk of collisions between aircraft and geese).
He is head of the Data Centre for the European Goose Management Platform under AEWA and member of the AEWA Technical Committee as a hunting expert.
